There are many makes, models of boiler available to choose from but essentially there are three main types of boiler systems. These are; combination (combi) boilers, system boilers and conventional boiler systems. Each type of boiler is designed for a different type of central heating and hot water setup and as such a most manufacturers offer the different types in range of models. You can read more about the different types of boilers in our Basic Guide To Boiler Types.
Essentially, deciding which type of boiler to buy is about picking the most practical and efficient setup for your specific home and usage requirements. Making the right choice about the type of boiler for your home will depend on the size of your home and the number of rooms and the number of radiators, baths and showers you require it to supply heating and hot water for.
All new boilers are rated by the SEDBUK (Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK) to determine the energy efficiency of the system. Boilers are required to be ‘A’ rated for energy-efficiency (or at least 88% efficient). This is useful in picking between the wide range of boiler models available and to find one that is both energy efficient and suitable for your home.
When choosing a new boiler, ultimately the decision comes down to the following key factors:
The existing heating system
The size of your home
Your usage requirements
Safety & Reliability
Servicing & Maintenance

It is always best to seek expert advice that is specific to your circumstances. As such we offer all customers the benefit of our professional advice from our experienced heating engineers, who will be happy to recommend a boiler system based on their assessment of the household and usage requirements.
As part of the service our boiler and heating engineers will provide free professional advice and recommend the boiler model(s) most suitable for your heating system, including any upgrades such as smart thermostatic controls, so that your heating system will be able to cope with your expected usage requirements both safely and efficiently.
Boiler Installation Quotations
Once you have decided on your boiler system and any additional modifications to your heating system we will then provide you with a comprehensive quotation for the entire installation. This will give you a full breakdown of the specifications and costs for the boiler model, any additional parts and fittings, and the cost of labour for our heating engineers to complete the boiler installation and any additional works that are required, including any associated building works needed such as filling an old flue hole if required.
We fully appreciate that you may wish to ask other heating engineers to quote in order to compare your options and we welcome the opportunity to be considered on a like-for-like quotation basis. We like to believe we are competitive on price whilst providing a choice of quality products and maintaining an excellent level of service. Assuming that you are happy to proceed, we will agree a date for your boiler installation to take place.
A typical replacement boiler installation is usually done within one day, but this does depend on the extent of the installation work that needs to be done. A normal boiler installation will include; draining the heating system, decommissioning and removing the old boiler system, installing the replacement boiler, connecting the associated heating pipework and installing any heating system upgrades or additions, such as smart thermostatic controls, and performing a chemical or power-flush to clean the pipes and radiators of the heating system. If the boiler is being relocated or a unvented hot water cylinder installation is required, then it will of course take extra time to install the associated connecting pipework and fittings.
As part of every new boiler installation we register all installations with the Gas Safe Register and warranties with the boiler manufacturer. This means the installation complies with Building Regulations Part L. We also provide our customers with both a Gas Safety Certificate. Our work is covered for 1 year.
